Indian Navy Agniveer (Apprentice) Recruitment 2026 - Selection Process
Stage 1 - INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test) Separate INET exams will be conducted for Electrical and Engineering entries. INET 2/2026 will be conducted in August 2026 with SSC as Exam Partner. Stage 2 - Physical Fitness Test (PFT) Qualifying in PFT is mandatory for selection. Candidates undergoing PFT do so at their own risk. Stage 2 - Written Examination Written exam is conducted only for candidates who qualify PFT. Two separate exams are conducted for Engineering and Electrical streams. Stage 2 - Recruitment Medical Examination Conducted for all candidates who qualify PFT. Candidates found medically unfit may appeal within 05 days at a designated Military Hospital allocated by the Indian Navy. Selection is based on objective criteria including performance during the 4-year engagement period and is entirely at the discretion of the Indian Navy. Agniveers have no right to claim permanent enrolment.
What are the physical and medical standards for Agniveer (Apprentice) 2026?
The minimum height standard is 157 cms. For the Physical Fitness Test, male candidates must complete a 1.6 km run within 6 minutes 30 seconds, 20 squats, 15 push-ups, and 15 bent knee sit-ups. Visual standards require uncorrected vision of 6/12, 6/12 and corrected vision of 6/6, 6/6 with Colour Perception CP PASS. Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on the inner face of forearms and back of the hand; tattoos on any other part of the body will lead to disqualification. Candidates with gender reassignment surgery will be declared UNFIT.
